As we enter the year of 2015, it is vital that we all set aside some time to reflect on the previous year. There are things that may or may not have transpired in 2014 that could have been avoided, handled differently, or done. Everyone is familiar with the phrase “There’s always room for improvement.” Having said that, I must emphasize that there is always a more efficient and/or impactful way of managing a situation that will yield a better outcome.
The first step to creating a new you is to create a new year’s resolution. A new year’s resolution is a statement or list of areas that you would like to improve in or goals that you would like to accomplish. Many people do not take advantage of this technique, but the Bible, in Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV), reads the following:
Then the Lord replied:
“Write down the revelation
And make it plain on tablets
So that a herald may run with it.”
In this case, you are the herald. Your new year’s resolution serves as constant reinforcement of what you have declared. Referring to it daily will ensure the implementation of your declaration, if you act upon it. Do not undermine this strategy.
A couple of years ago, I had an epiphany; I thought to myself, “No one should leave this earth without having mastered something.” Elevating to new heights requires changes, whether it be your environment, acquaintances, friends, or habits- usually all. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, and expecting different results. For a different outcome, there must be a different action.
Furthermore, always find ways to improve yourself. Challenge yourself to learn a new skill, go back to school, seek information that will enhance you spiritually, physically, and intellectually; whatever your preference- remember - your biggest investment is YOU.
As in all things, acknowledge HIM (Jesus Christ) first, for true success.
With love,
Brittany
